hey guys, I've made a small little advertisement topic on the sa-mp forums just to help promote the server a small bit.

Hopefully it will help draw back some people who stopped playing the server back in 0.1b.

Is there anywhere else that the server could be promoted though? I know we don't need a lot of advertising, but I'm just wondering if it would help the server get back on it's feet.

I'm not sure if the main image in your thread is proper, though. I like it personally, but it seems kind of ironic to me and in my opinion, many people could think "No, this looks like shit. Artillery planes explosions? And what's the "FUCK!" word doing there? I'm not sure...".

A best picture I can think of to fit that place would be a screenshot of the PM surrounded by a few terrorists aiming at him, on a top of some building. The PM would be holding his hands up, a nice PTPM text/logo would be added and voila! :) What do you people think?

Aight bitches, lets make a generic advertisement post that we can repost once a month in the samp forums. We still need other forms of advertisement, but this is one free way. Additionally, I think there should be a link (on our front page) to how to page that describes how to download samp and start playing protect the prime minister, for people who get here via other sites. There could be a link right above "private boards" and right below where it says "Spark's Protect the Prime Minister" and it could be called "How to Get Started with SA-MP and PTPM", make both those little links in bigger font, and I could write the page if everyone else is too lazy.

I really don't know. Usually I'm always in for doing shit to get PtPM going, but I think PtPM really has had its time. The server went down and kept on moving between hosts and IPs, here we stand now. We have a stable hosting, we have a working forum, but people really seem to have lost their interest for the server. Even on the one day we try to be active, how many people have we got? You, me, esco and like three or four other regulars. Ok, sure, eleven players is good enough for a fun game of ptpm, but still..

An advertisement only works if people actually play the server, people will add the IP to their browser, see that nobody is online and they'll remove it again. Adding the Sunday thing could work, although it's a bit patheticville, but it will work for people who actually do really want to play the server. I really, really doubt anyone who has never heard of SA:MP, let alone PtPM, is going to download it or would end up on this forum.

well thanks for being a downer. haha. i dunno, you're probably right. I don't want ptpm to be over, cause it rocks faces. The reason I have hope is because I look on sa-mp.com at random times and there are 8000-9000 people on. The popular servers still get tons of people, and we used to be a semi-popular server.

It's horrible to see people look at an empty ptpm server and think to themselves "meh, I'd join if people were online"


I do that a lot, it seemsd that after one person joins, the numbers snowball and then 10 people end up online.

I'll continue to come on for gameday, and I can try to come on at times where other people might see it. If other people don't come, so be it. I'm going to keep trying tho. I wasn't on at gameday last weekend cause I was in california, but that was my last debate tournament.

Uhm is right. PTPM server had its existence, and now it's just a thing that belongs to the past. It would be nice to see the server becoming popular again and all that things, but it "died" 3 or 4 times, so trying to make it back to life is hard.
Now there's only the community: You (the reader), me, and all the true players PTPM has had.

And beleive it or not, these facts are sad, because we will have to accept, sometime in the future, that PTPM server has ended, because internet/computer/technological things don't last a life.

oh christ totally different discussion but i haven't even installed any games on my laptop yet. it is 2:47 am and I am finishing linear algebra (which I have a midterm for on tuesday) homework before i get ready for my spanish debate and start working on an outline for a humanities paper.

I've always wondered what's the difference between university and college. Is college more work-centric and university I-study-because-I-like-to-study-and-for-no-other-reason-but-well-maybe-I-will-work-thanks-to-that-one-day?

College and university are the same thing here, college is just used more in the US.

Well to get technical, a college is solely undergraduates, and a university has research and graduate students.

We have private and public universities. Public ones are run by the state, are fairly cheap, pretty good but not great in many cases, and are huge. A private university is privately owned (I attend one of these - Northwestern University). We get fucked by tuition (but i get tons of financial aid). There is a huge range of private universities, from Oral Roberts University to Harvard.

We also have community colleges (junior college) that is smaller, cheaper, usually considered less good, and are often 2-year.

Goddamnit I need to get MTA on this computer.
