Can something be done about desert?

Yeah, desert.

I'm pretty sure all of you know by now that desert is becoming the most overused map by miles, mainly because of the minigun and people whoring it.

Could something be done about this? Obviously is applies to other overused maps too, such as SF.

I thought that someone could put a script in which doesn't let any map be played twice in a row, and if you're playing a map, the map your in doesn't come up in the votemap command.

I think this would help balance out the game more, as people wont be voting for desert OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER just for the fucking minigun. :/

There is a point here, it can become the "same old same old" routine..
But then again, what can be done about this? new objectives?
Never the less, i like the map as it is at the moment, but obviously changes on the map would be great!
.

It might be better if the mapvote feature was taken away really, because all it's used for is abuse and map whoring.

And without it we would get a fair selection of all the other maps, such as factory and LS obj. :/

Guys 10 k mini should be available to get for exmaple when there were 5 minutes of playing to prevent bodygaurd from going for him and leaving pm alone.

Remove one or two planes from BG spawn, remove one or two planes from the western end of the airport, maybe do something with the other planes at the other end, and change minigun spawns.

in general im against imposing limits on how people can play, limiting mapvotes could get quite annoying if people actually want to play a certain map, especially when there are less people online. moving spawns around is just a stall at best, and i dont think making it more difficult to get miniguns will change much

i think the problem lies with a lack of people voting, rather than a mass of votes for one map. more often than not one map will get 100% of the vote with only 2 or 3 votes, which on a 25 player server means only 10% of people actually vote at all. making the mapvote feature more obvious might help, though forcing things on people is just going to annoy

I know it's an obvius thing, but only (some) regular players mapvote, and if they vote is for their OWN interest: mini at desert, hideouts at sf, hydra at ls_hydra (that's why mapvote was created).
Anyway, the "remember to use /mapvote" message only appears 1 time during the round, during 3-4 seconds. Maybe increasing the frequency and the time would help, as players not used to /mapvote would do it, doing PTPM better for all us. (though maybe they vote in mass for desert, just to get mini, but we never know)

What about at the end of a round, when the pm has survived message appears, a textdraw appears with a list saying, select the number to vote for the map you would like to play next.

1. Los Santos
2. Los Santos Hydra
3. San Fierro
4. Desert
etc..

and a 10 second timer before the votes over since that should be plenty of time to type in one number and press enter. I think that would help with the mapvote issues. Vote after the round since during people are busy trying to play the game.

^ this.

Because then nearly everyone will get a vote in, and it should be much fairer than having a single minigun whore secure desert as the next map.. all of the time.

Having a menu at the end to select a map would be easier to use if you ask me. Either way I think it would break up the action a bit too much for my tastes.

if we getting such shit then i say no to menu cus yokno the maps listed on top get voted for easier
so like the textdraw menus on some other random serwer (lol insane danes)
its pops up and you type in chat "1" or so and maybe to make shit real advanced it checks onplayertext and if its only an integer it votes or else it just appears as text in chat

iKent's idea is the best in my oppinion.

People miss the "voting" notification, so barely any one votes, whereas at the end of a map if it actually comes up this would be better.

Anyway we can stress voting is good. Maybe, we could even go so far as to have a 30 second voting period at the beginning of each map where everyone is frozen and "Please Mapvote Now - You Can Change Your Vote Later" or something goes up on the screen.

As of now its most likely going to be the menu for 10 seconds at the end of the round, I've already created the textdraw and given it to Remp to finish the other half of it earlier today.

That is a good plan.
Don't change the Desert-vehicle-spawn, and don't change the heavy-weapons.

And you wouldn't be able to abuse the mapvote anymore, it's a win win!

I've seen the Vote-System. It works good, but the vote time is very short.
